Thailand is
divided into 76 provinces (changwat), which are grouped into 5 groups
of provinces by location. There are also 2 special governed districts
which are the capital - Bangkok (Krung Thep Maha Nakhon in Thai ) and
Pattaya. However Pattaya is still part of Chonburi Province, while
Bangkok is at provicinial level itself. Each province is divided into
smaller districts - as of 2000 there are 795 districts amphoe), 81
sub-districts ( king amphoe) and 50 districts of Bangkok (khet).
However, some parts of the provinces bordering Bangkok are referred to
as Greater Bangkok pari monthon). These Provinces include Nonthaburi,
Pathum Thani, Samut Prakan, Nakhon Pathom, Samut Sakhon. The name of
each capital city , mueang) is the same as that of the province: for
example, the capital of Chiang Mai province (changwat Chiang Mai) is
amphoe Mueang Chiang Mai.

Bangkok
In the midst of dynamic modern growth, Bangkok

Chiang
Mai
Chiang Mai is Thailand's principal northern city. Chiang
Mai is the pro-vincial capital of a largely mountainous
province, also called Chiang Mai, which is some 20,000
square kilometres in area. Chiang Mai city is 700
kilometres north of Bangkok, was founded in 1296, and is
located in a fertile valley some 300 matres above sea
level.
Krabi
Krabi offers one of Thailand's most beautiful coast
line, unusual limestone formations which cast
extraordinary silhouettes, reaching far out into the
Andaman Sea. Krabi is on the Andaman Sea coast of
southwest Thailand between 7' 30' and 8' 30' north
latitude, and 98' 30' and 99' 30' west longitude, total
area is 4,709 square kilometers.
Pattaya
Pattaya is 147 kilometers southeast of Bangkok, and
faces the Thai Gulf. It is Asia's premier beach resort,
and caters with equal appeal to families, couples and
single visitors. Pattaya's relaxing tropical ambience is
synonymous with every ingredient for memorable holidays.
Accommodation ranges from luxuriously appointed backside
hotels with superb convention facilities to simple
guesthouses.
Phuket
Phuket is located in the southwest and is also the
largest island in Thailand.It's the only one island that
has a status to be a province. It is about. 867 km south
from Bangkok. It is surrounded by water contain with
much marine lives and the town, Phuket, is known as the
Sino-Portuguese architecture buildings.
Samui
Koh Samui is Thailand's third largest island and the
largest in the south-east of the Gulf of Thailand. Koh
in the Thai language means island and there are around
eighty islands surrounding Samui: Koh Pha Ngan, Koh Tao
and Koh Tan are the closest and also inhabited. Samui is
more than 280 sq. km. in area and has a population of
approximately 34,000.
